Porcelain plate "ARIEL"

Detergent ads promise clean laundry, a fresh start and a tidy home. Behind the promise is a whole picture of the perfect life: the beautiful woman, the spotless house, the happy marriage, happily ever after.

THE PROMISE OF A CLEAN START. THE MESS OF REAL LIFE.

I take the promise of the ad and let it misbehave.

Original painted porcelain plate by Tallinn-based artist Katrin Valgemäe.

• D: 19 cm
• Porcelain plate with underglaze painting and porcelain paint, 2022
• Original artwork by Katrin Valgemäe

Care: Can be used for food and washed, but not made for constant dishwasher use. The porcelain paint (fired at 800 °C) wears gradually over time, like on old Soviet-era children's plates.
